One season ticket holder of over 35 years described the situation as "stressful" and felt the club "just want us gone." Emails sent to affected fans indicate "patterns linked to your ticketing account that we need to understand more clearly." Restrictions prevent buying and transferring tickets, with an appeals panel to make final decisions before the Premier League season begins on August 22nd.

The Manchester United Supporters' Trust reported being overwhelmed with requests for help, stating the club has sent "account suspensions and season-ticket cancellation notices to thousands of supporters." The club claims the vast majority of flagged accounts have misbehaved, utilizing third-party software for automated identification. Last season, 22,000 tickets were cancelled due to touting, with United estimating 10-15% of season tickets are controlled by touts. The number of season-ticket holders at Old Trafford has decreased significantly from 64,000 in 2006 to 46,800.
