Liverpool have secured the signing of attacking midfielder Mao Itamura from Feyenoord. The 19-year-old Japanese international becomes the fifth new addition to the squad this summer, stepping in to replace Denise O'Sullivan.

Itamura arrives at Liverpool after an impressive spell with Feyenoord, where she was named the Women's Eredivisie player of the season in 2025-26. During that campaign, she netted eight goals and provided six assists, playing a key role in Feyenoord's historic qualification for European football. She also represented Japan at the U-20 level, contributing to their Women's Asian Cup victory in April.

"It's a league and a club that was one of my goals [to join]. I'm happy to be here," Itamura stated. "I'm really happy to have the opportunity to play in Liverpool, which is a big club." Itamura, who previously played for JFA Academy Fukushima in Japan, will wear the number 26 shirt.
