Leicester City manager Gary Rowett says he won't let the financial implications of relegation distract him from his rescue mission at the East Midlands club. The Foxes sit second from bottom in the Championship with eight games remaining, fighting to avoid a second relegation in as many years.

Rowett acknowledged the massive financial hit Leicester would take if they drop to League One, with broadcasting and commercial payments falling by around £115 million from the £116.9 million earned in the Premier League. Matchday income would also plummet when they stop hosting top-flight clubs and instead entertain lower-tier opposition.

The club would receive a final parachute payment of around £40 million to soften the blow, but still faces going down with one of the Championship's biggest wage bills and highest earners under contract. Rowett told BBC East Midlands Today that dwelling on these financial implications could affect his decision-making.

He emphasized that winning games remains the same process regardless of league position, comparing the mental approach needed whether fighting for play-offs or survival. Rowett said he'll focus on doing what's required rather than thinking about the bigger picture.
