The Football Association of Ireland has submitted its formal bid to stage the 2029 Women's Champions League final at Dublin's Aviva Stadium. Government backing strengthens the proposal, which builds on previous major European finals hosted at the venue including the 2011 and 2024 Europa League showpieces.

Dublin's Aviva Stadium offers a 51,700-capacity setting that will also feature during Euro 2028. Ireland has deep ties to this competition - four individual champions in Emma Byrne, Ciara Grant, Yvonne Tracy and Katie McCabe, plus 11 clubs reaching qualifying rounds. Republic of Ireland captain McCabe featured for Arsenal in last season's final victory over Barcelona.

FAI chief executive David Courell emphasized the bid represents a chance to inspire future generations while capitalizing on women's football's rapid growth in Ireland. The governing body sees this as a natural progression for a city with proven experience in major European finals.

Cardiff's Principality Stadium and venues in Lyon and Basel have also expressed interest for either 2028 or 2029. UEFA will make its decision in September, with Warsaw already confirmed for 2027.
