London has submitted its final bid to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, with the London Stadium — built for the 2012 Olympics — proposed as the venue. The city previously hosted the event in 2017, while Birmingham will stage the European Championships this August.

Great Run Company CEO Paul Foster hailed London as "the world's number one sporting city," while UK Athletics CEO Jack Buckner emphasised the bid's central role in the UK's "Olympic legacy." Buckner thanked the government, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Mayor of London, and UK Sport for their support.

UK Athletics has reached agreement with the London Stadium and West Ham United for use of the venue. West Ham confirmed they are working with London Stadium LLP and Athletics Ventures to support delivery, with "a number of new initiatives that will enhance the stadium and matchday experience for supporters" included. The potential impact on West Ham's 2029-30 campaign remains unconfirmed.
