Hull City has secured goalkeeper Jack Butland as their first summer signing, bringing him in from Rangers on a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months. This move signals the club's intent as they prepare for their return to the Premier League after a nine-year absence, with manager Sergej Jakirovic beginning his squad strengthening. Butland's arrival adds significant experience to the Tigers' roster.

Butland, a nine-time England international, was a consistent presence for Rangers, playing every minute of their 2025-26 Scottish Premiership campaign and making 55 appearances across all competitions. He departs Ibrox after three successful seasons, during which he made 157 appearances and secured a Scottish League Cup. His performances also earned him both the club's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards.

Prior to his move to Scotland, Butland spent seven years at Stoke City, featuring in 77 Premier League matches, and also had a spell with Crystal Palace in the top flight. The fee for his transfer from Rangers remains undisclosed. His proven track record in English football's top tier will be a significant asset for Hull City's challenging season ahead.

Butland's capture provides Hull City with a seasoned professional between the posts. His prior Premier League experience with Stoke and Crystal Palace, combined with his recent accolades at Rangers, offers a strong foundation for their defensive unit as they aim to establish themselves back in the top division.
