Galatasaray fans have been banned from attending the Champions League second leg against Liverpool following crowd disturbances in their previous match against Juventus. European football's governing body UEFA imposed the sanction after supporters threw objects and lit fireworks during the last-16 play-off tie second leg in Turin on February 25.

Despite losing 3-2 on the night, Galatasaray progressed 7-5 on aggregate to reach the round of 16. The Turkish club will host Liverpool at their home stadium in Istanbul next Tuesday, with the return leg scheduled at Anfield on March 18. UEFA's punishment includes a ban on selling tickets to away supporters and a fine of 40,000 euros (£34,800).

The Super Lig leaders have announced they will appeal against the punishment. This decision follows a pattern of UEFA taking strict action against clubs whose fans engage in disruptive behavior during European competitions.
