Pressure to boycott the fixture has risen amid the Middle East conflict. The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign protested in the Dáil, while Irish Sport For Palestine launched a “Stop The Game” drive. Earlier this year a friendly against Qatar was disrupted by Palestine‑flagged tennis balls, intensifying calls for a venue shift. The protests echo public unease over sporting ties to conflicted nations.

FAI chief executive David Courell warned that pulling out would bring “serious consequences”, so the board elected to fulfil the schedule. Veteran defender Seamus Coleman said the issue should be handled above the players, and captain Nathan Collins pledged support for anyone choosing to boycott. A win would keep them in contention for the Group B3 race.
