FA probes NPL chairman over abusive email

The FA and Northern Premier League are investigating chairman Mark Harris after he allegedly sent an abusive email to a fan who complained about a venue change for a crucial match. Harris reportedly contacted the FA himself regarding the incident, which has prompted both organizations to launch separate inquiries into the matter that has shaken the league's leadership.

Aled Duckfield contacted Harris over the NPL's decision to move FC United's important end-of-season game against Stockton Town from their Broadhurst Park ground to nearby Curzon Ashton. FC United argues the switch affects their title chances and financial prospects, while the NPL claims they needed to avoid potential postponements with the season ending on April 25.

The NPL has convened an urgent meeting to address the "serious matter," with FC United expressing concerns about impartiality in governance. The club criticized the "attitude that so many involved in the governance of the game have towards supporters" and announced they would seek "urgent clarification" from the league regarding the decision-making process. Harris, a highly-respected figure appointed in 2009, serves on the FA's National Leagues Pyramid Board.
