Teenage Chelsea forward Jesse Derry has been taken to hospital after sustaining a head injury during the club's 3-1 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest. The 18-year-old was making his top-flight debut when he collided heads with Forest's Zach Abbott in the 45th minute, requiring oxygen treatment and a stretcher removal.

Derry, whose father Shaun played for Leeds and Crystal Palace, started up front for Chelsea after featuring as a substitute in two FA Cup matches this season. The England Under-19 winger had scored 12 goals in 29 academy appearances since joining from Palace last summer, and the head clash resulted in a penalty that Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels saved.

Chelsea confirmed Derry is conscious and talking while undergoing precautionary checks. Caretaker manager Callum McFarlane said all signs were positive, though the young winger's debut ended in disappointment. Derry was replaced by Liam Delap as a concussion substitute, with the club prioritizing his long-term health over immediate return.
