Celtic Appeal Denied for Trusty Red Card

Celtic's appeal against Auston Trusty's red card has been rejected, meaning the defender will serve a three-match suspension. The incident occurred during Celtic's 2-1 loss to Hibernian at Celtic Park, where Trusty was dismissed following a clash with Jamie McGrath during a corner. The defending champions were unsuccessful in their bid to overturn the decision.

Trusty's suspension includes Sunday's crucial Old Firm derby against Rangers, as well as away fixtures against Aberdeen and Motherwell. The 27-year-old defender had already been sent off earlier this season, resulting in an additional match ban on top of the automatic two-match suspension for violent conduct. However, Trusty will be available for Celtic's Scottish Cup quarter-final against Rangers on March 8.

In a contrasting outcome, St Mirren successfully appealed Richard King's red card from their 5-0 defeat to Motherwell. The defender will now be available for Saturday's match against Livingston after the independent panel ruled he should not have been dismissed. The red card was initially issued based on the assistant referee's advice, with VAR not intervening to review the incident.
