Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed the club has rejected a West Ham bid for midfielder Arne Engels, stating it "doesn't remotely meet our valuation." West Ham's offer for the 22-year-old Belgian midfielder comes after Nottingham Forest failed with a £25m offer in February.

O'Neill also revealed that Everton have made contact regarding Canada full-back Alistair Johnston. "Everton have been in contact," O'Neill explained, noting that a bid may follow. Johnston, 27, joined Celtic in January 2023 from Montreal. O'Neill described the interest in both players as "disappointing" but "to be expected," acknowledging the difficulty in retaining players whose ambition is to play in a "big, big league."

Celtic have already seen Daizen Maeda depart for Ipswich Town this summer and are actively seeking replacements. O'Neill mentioned being "close" to signing new players to bolster the squad, as they prepare for the challenges of potentially losing key personnel.
