Police in Budapest sift camera footage to name supporters who clashed before Saturday’s Champions League final between Arsenal and Paris Saint‑Germain. Footage posted on social media shows roughly 30 fans from each side fighting and igniting flares. The clash erupted around 00:20 on May 30 in the 7th district, Kiraly Street, a hot spot for pre‑match fever.

The BRFK 7th District Police Department opened criminal proceedings under gang‑violence statutes, analysing the recordings. Nearly 4,000 officers will patrol the capital for the final, while tens of thousands of ticket‑less fans will arrive. Deputy chief Zoltan Janos Kuczik warned it would be Hungary’s largest single‑day police deployment ever in the lead‑up to the match today.

Earlier Friday, authorities nabbed two Portuguese and a British man at the Champions League fan festival for disorderly conduct. A British citizen also climbed onto a parked car’s roof, damaging the vehicle, and faced arrest. These incidents underscore the event’s high‑risk status, prompting authorities to intensify surveillance and crowd control before the showdown in Budapest.

Fans and clubs alike warn that any escalation could derail the match’s atmosphere and tarnish the tournament’s reputation. With the final set for 20:45 local time, organizers plan to coordinate with UEFA and international police units to ensure safety. The incident reminds authorities that pre‑match unrest can ripple through the sport’s global narrative.
