Arsenal vs Everton 5:30pm Kick-Off: Champions League Clash Forces Premier League Schedule Change

Two Premier League matches will kick off at 5:30pm on Saturday due to Arsenal's Champions League commitments. The Gunners host Everton during the teatime slot, while Chelsea's match against Newcastle has also been moved to the same time. This unusual scheduling change came after Arsenal were drawn against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last-16.

Originally, Chelsea's game against Newcastle was the designated Saturday evening kick-off. However, Arsenal's fixture was brought forward from Sunday after they couldn't play their second leg against Leverkusen at the Emirates on the same day as Tottenham's game against Atletico Madrid. The scheduling conflict arose because both Arsenal and Chelsea play their first European legs on Wednesday, March 8, with return fixtures on Tuesday, March 14.

If Arsenal's game hadn't been moved, Mikel Arteta's side would have faced Everton and Bayer Leverkusen just 54 hours apart. For the first time this season, both Saturday 5:30pm Premier League games will be broadcast simultaneously on Sky Sports. The Premier League aims to ensure all teams have a 72-hour gap between kick-off times to protect player welfare.
