Birmingham City winger Emil Hansson has completed a move to Dutch Eredivisie club Excelsior Rotterdam for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old Norwegian-born player joined Blues from Heracles Almelo in July 2024 for £1.5m, scoring twice in 24 appearances during his debut season in England.

After helping Birmingham win promotion to the Championship, Hansson was sent on loan to Blackpool in League One. The winger made 24 appearances for the Tangerines, including three league starts, before his season-long loan was cut short.

The transfer marks Hansson's return to Dutch football after just six months in the Championship. His departure from St Andrew's leaves Birmingham without one of their summer signings who had shown promise in limited opportunities.
