Fox News Media on Thursday abruptly ousted longtime anchor Maria Bartiromo without providing an explanation. “Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media,” the network said in a press release, adding: “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 and a half years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”

Bartiromo, who had been off the air since early August, hosted a three-hour weekday morning show on Fox Business Network and the Sunday morning program Sunday Morning Futures. She previously worked at CNBC where she was known as “the money hunny” in the 1990s.

In recent years, Bartiromo became closely associated with Donald Trump, frequently praising the president and dining with him on multiple occasions, including at his inauguration in January 2025. Internal communications from defamation lawsuits involving Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic showed she supported theories that the 2020 election was rigged. One lawsuit was settled in April 2023, while the other remains ongoing. Documents revealed Bartiromo earned $70m during her Fox tenure.

The sudden nature of her departure suggests it was not voluntary, mirroring the network’s 2023 announcement of Tucker Carlson’s exit. Fox Business deleted Bartiromo’s staff page by Thursday afternoon. Her shows will temporarily feature rotating hosts.
