RedBull's Craig Skinner departs as F1 chief designer after four-title run

Red Bull's chief designer Craig Skinner has left the F1 team he helped power to four consecutive constructors' championships, Autosport F1 News reports. Skinner, an engineering graduate from Glasgow, joined Red Bull in 2006 and rose through the ranks to become chief designer in 2022, working closely with design legend Adrian Newey and technical director Pierre Wache. His exit follows high-profile departures including Newey to Aston Martin and team principal Christian Horner's resignation last July.

While Skinner's departure isn't linked to those exits, it underscores the significant turnover at the Milton Keynes campus. Under current team principal Laurent Mekies, the new-look Red Bull enjoyed a resurgence in late 2025 and a promising 2026 pre-season. The team's RB22, featuring its first in-house power unit developed with Ford, has defied expectations, praised for efficient energy deployment. However, Verstappen has criticized the 2026 cars as 'anti-racing' and 'not fun' to drive due to energy harvesting demands.
