Paul Monaghan, Red Bull's 58-year-old chief engineer, faces speculation about a potential move to Cadillac, according to Racing News365 reports from the Austrian Grand Prix weekend. While neither team has confirmed the rumors, sources suggest there's substance to the story, adding to concerns about Red Bull's stability.

The whispers about Monaghan join a growing list of senior departures from Milton Keynes. Gianpiero Lambiase will join McLaren in 2028, while Adrian Newey, Jonathan Wheatley, Will Courtenay and Rob Marshall all exited for rival outfits. Team principal Laurent Mekies addressed the speculation, acknowledging the rumors but refusing to discuss specific names.

Mekies emphasized that Red Bull has succession plans and sufficient talent remaining within the organization. He pointed to the team's ability to promote from within, citing Ben Waterhouse's recent elevation as chief performance and design engineer. The focus remains on performance rather than personnel changes.

Regarding Max Verstappen, Mekies stated the driver simply wants a fast car and trusts the team to deliver. With Red Bull currently trailing on track and operating under budget cap constraints limiting upgrade frequency, the Austrian Grand Prix package becomes crucial for convincing Verstappen to extend his stay beyond 2024.
