Red Bull Secures Hart, Lagrue in Succession Plans

Red Bull secured two key personnel moves at the Belgian GP. The team convinced Tom Hart to stay and succeed Gianpiero Lambiase as race engineer in 2027, reversing his planned move to Williams. Lambiase will join McLaren in 2028 after gardening leave.

Red Bull also signed Gwen Lagrue from Mercedes to lead its junior programme, succeeding Helmut Marko. Lagrue, who recruited George Russell and Kimi Antonelli at Mercedes, brings external expertise. Team Principal Laurent Mekies emphasizes internal promotion as Plan A, external hiring as Plan B for specific skills.

These moves reflect Mekies' transition strategy amid departures like Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley. The question remains whether this "strength in depth" retains Max Verstappen, who now sees former colleagues at McLaren. Mekies remains confident Red Bull has the talent to return to the front.
