Hadjar penalised for floor board breach at Miami GP

Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar will start the Miami Grand Prix from the pit lane after scrutineers declared his RB22 illegal. FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer found the car’s left‑hand and right‑hand floor board protruding 2mm beyond the reference volume defined in the 2026 regulations. The sanction also costs him sprint points. The breach of Article C3.5.5 sends his ninth‑place grid slot to the back.

Hadjar had hoped to benefit from Red Bull’s recent aerodynamic upgrades, but qualifying exposed his struggle on Miami’s low‑grip, high‑temperature surface. He finished 0.825 seconds slower than teammate Max Verstappen, who secured pole alongside Andrea Kimi Antonelli. He also struggled to keep tyre temperatures stable, lamenting a lack of straight‑line speed and difficulty finding a rhythm in the demanding circuit.

Because the start time was moved up to 1 pm local due to thunderstorm risk, teams have little margin to adjust setups. Hadjar’s pit‑lane start eliminates any chance of capitalising on Red Bull’s pace surge, leaving him to chase a field that already split the top two spots. Officials will monitor further component compliance closely, underscoring how tightly regulated parts can reshape a race.
