Domenicali says F1 US push just getting started

Stefano Domenicali told the Autosport Business Exchange in Miami that Formula 1’s commercial foothold in the United States is only beginning. He recalled early forays in Detroit, Indianapolis and a modest Austin debut eight years ago that drew about 60,000 fans, contrasting with today’s three American races in Miami, Austin and Las Vegas that regularly sell out.

He praised Miami’s alignment with F1’s glamour brand, citing the city’s economic climate and willingness to drive US growth. Domenicali said demand for additional venues is rising, but expansion must be measured with the right promoters. The US market, he noted, offers a scale of commercial opportunity unmatched elsewhere, fueling the sport’s long‑term strategy.

While acknowledging that Formula 1 still trails the nation’s biggest sports, Domenicali insisted the series will stay the fight, leveraging partnerships to embed itself in American culture sooner than many expect. His message was clear: the US is a priority, and F1 will continue investing until the sport becomes a mainstream staple.

Recent viewership spikes after the US broadcast rights deal and the upcoming Paddock Club expansion at Miami for 2027 underscore the commercial momentum. Sponsors are eyeing deeper engagement, and local authorities see tourism boosts tied to race weekends. This convergence of fan interest, financial incentive and infrastructure support suggests F1’s US ambition is moving from concept to concrete reality.
