Formula 1’s power‑unit framework will shift next season as stakeholders consented to a 5 % rise in fuel flow, lifting output from 400 kW to 420 kW. The change keeps hardware while the electric motor’s ceiling falls from 350 kW to 300 kW. Overtake Mode stays at 350 kW, and harvest limits climb to 375 kW, nudging the ICE/electric split to 58/42 for the 2027 season.

Red Bull, Mercedes and other teams pushed for earlier gains, but Audi and Ferrari warned of development timelines. The compromise delays a larger 13 % fuel surge that would raise ICE output to 450 kW until 2028, when the 60/40 ICE/electric balance takes effect. That year’s harvest limit will rise to 400 kW, keeping deployment and overtake mode unchanged for the championship season.

FIA’s World Motor Sport Council will ratify the amendments on June 23 in Macau, after the FIA, FOM, teams, OEMs and power‑unit makers reviewed the financial tweaks that grant a cost‑cap buffer. The adjustments aim to smooth 2026 regulations, curb driver workload, and restore balanced racing while addressing safety fears from high closing speeds for drivers and teams alike.
