Xiaomi launched its next-generation SU7 electric sedan with impressive technical upgrades, including up to 902 km CLTC range and standard LiDAR across all trims. The updated model starts at 229,900 yuan (~$33,000), maintaining its price advantage over Tesla's Model 3 in China despite a 10,000-14,000 yuan increase from the previous version. Xiaomi attracted 89,000 pre-orders in the first 24 hours when reservations opened.

The charging infrastructure received significant upgrades, with the top Max model featuring an 897V architecture that can add 670 km of range in just 15 minutes. All trims now include Xiaomi's V6s Plus motor and advanced driver-assistance hardware, with the Pro model sporting a 902 km range - comfortably above Tesla's offerings. Safety improvements include 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel and increased airbag count from 7 to 9.

The SU7 has already proven successful, with over 360,000 units delivered in 21 months and becoming Xiaomi's first electric vehicle to outsell the Model 3 in China's premium EV segment. The next-gen model builds on this momentum by addressing virtually every criticism of the original while actually increasing value through standard advanced features. Xiaomi targets 16,000 units for March production as it continues to expand its EV market presence.
