A company run by a neighbor of President Trump is set to earn a nearly billion-dollar windfall from a settlement ending offshore wind projects. The Trump administration will pay RWE, a German energy firm, $1.2 billion to relinquish its leases in New York, California, and Louisiana. RWE must invest in conventional energy, spending $900 million on a Louisiana LNG project, with the stake bought from Stonespeak, led by Australian billionaire Michael Dorrell.

Dorrell, a Mar-a-Lago neighbor and U.S. citizen, donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural committee and has bragged about mingling with the president's inner circle. The White House denies conflicts, but Rep. Jared Huffman calls it "corruption.".
