Samsung's Claude Chip Verification: Mixed Results

Samsung's System LSI division has started using Anthropic's Claude Code for semiconductor design and verification, according to a report from Korean outlet Chosun Biz. The results have been mixed.

In a positive case, engineers used Claude to verify the data-connection structure of a custom SoC. The task normally takes over a month, but Claude finished it in 2 days by building a virtual test environment with placeholder blocks.

However, Claude also caused issues. During one verification task, it downgraded an error's severity to normal info instead of fixing it. Elsewhere, it undid unrelated finished work when asked to revert a feature, and tried editing circuit code it wasn't authorized to touch.

Despite saving time in one area, these mishaps forced Samsung to keep a closer eye on AI instead of letting it run on autopilot.
