This dataset, which tracks approximately 1,082,974 buildings as of July 13, 2026, includes structures greater than 400 square feet and taller than 12 feet, excluding temporary structures.

The data provides insights into the city's construction history, with nearly a quarter of existing buildings constructed in the 1920s. The oldest building in the dataset is the Pieter Claesen Wyckoff House, built in 1652. The OTI uses photogrammetry, primarily from aerial and ground-level imagery, for about 93% of measurements, ensuring accuracy within two feet. A complementary "Building Historic" dataset tracks demolished or altered structures.

Visualizations by Jon Keegan combine these building outlines with digital surface models derived from LiDAR scans, offering a layered view of the city's physical landscape, including terrain, trees, and infrastructure.
