Introducing Nebula Sans, a versatile, modern, humanist sans-serif with a neutral aesthetic, designed for legibility in both digital and print applications. Based on Source Sans by Paul D. Hunt for Adobe Fonts, Nebula Sans is the new brand typeface for Nebula, the premium streaming service from independent creators.

Designed as a drop-in alternative to Whitney SSm, Nebula Sans is available for anyone to use under the SIL Open Font License. It features two styles in six weights, suitable for interfaces, print, and other graphical needs. A short documentary film about its story was directed by David Friedman.

The team built their own typeface for personalization, advanced features, and sustainability. Source Sans was chosen as the foundation because it shares characteristics with Whitney SSm, bridging American gothic and European humanist styles. Adjustments were made to match Whitney SSm metrics.

Typographical details include curly punctuation from Source Sans, stylistic alternates, a custom asterisk, and tabular figures for stable timestamps. Nebula Sans is now available for download.
