Interrail 7‑Week Journey: 6,379 km, 13 Countries

Last year my wife and I did a 5,025‑km Interrail trip, so this year we tried the 15‑day‑in‑2‑months package. We purchased 1st‑class tickets in December and spent about 40 hours on trains over 7 weeks. The route included two ferries, one overnight, and covered 13 countries.

The trip began in London, where the Eurostar was crowded but the 1st‑class service was nice. A snag in Brussels saw construction delay a Brussels‑to‑Hamburg leg; we filed a complicated refund that eventually worked. Hamburg to Copenhagen was mostly smooth, though a car‑riage failure forced us onto a crowded replacement train.

From Copenhagen to Stockholm and onward to Helsinki we enjoyed basic lounges, free fruit, and excellent Wi‑Fi on most trains. The overnight ferry to Helsinki offered a striking view and a decent restaurant.

The leg from Tallinn to Riga was confusing but manageable, and the Riga‑to‑Vilnius leg had a VIP lounge that we couldn’t use. Warsaw to Berlin was hot but on time, and the final Berlin‑to‑Munich leg had a quieter 1st‑class carriage.

Overall, 40 hours on trains, 6,379 km, 13 countries, and many practical lessons for future Interrailers.
