Bloomy, a new AI-powered mastery-learning platform for K-12 students, has launched. Founded by Alex Southmayd, who previously taught with Teach For America, Bloomy aims to solve the Bloom 2-sigma problem by providing personalized learning paths and a Socratic AI tutor for subjects like Math, ELA, and Writing.

The platform diagnoses skill gaps, offers adaptive lessons, and uses an AI tutor that scaffolds learning without giving direct answers. Students must demonstrate 90% mastery of a skill before advancing through three stages: Base Camp, Climb, and Summit. The AI tutor, BloomyBot, is integrated into practice sessions and adheres to strict guidelines to ensure it supports learning rather than just providing answers.

Bloomy is being utilized in various educational settings, including traditional schools, microschools, and homeschools. An early pilot showed promising results, with students exhibiting significantly higher growth in standardized test scores. The platform offers family subscriptions and school licensing, with pricing varying by subject and implementation needs. Bloomy emphasizes data privacy and does not sell personal information or use child data for advertising.
