Apple announced a major expansion of its U.S. manufacturing operations with the relocation of Mac mini production to a new Houston facility. The move marks the first time Apple will produce the compact desktop computer domestically, doubling the campus footprint while creating thousands of jobs.

The Houston operations already produce advanced AI servers, including logic boards manufactured onsite for Apple's data centers nationwide. Production began ahead of schedule in 2025, with the company now accelerating AI server manufacturing. The expansion is part of Apple's broader $600 billion commitment to American manufacturing announced last year.

Beyond hardware production, Apple will open a 20,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston later this year. The facility will provide hands-on training in advanced manufacturing techniques to students, supplier employees, and businesses of all sizes. Apple experts will teach the same innovative processes used in Apple product manufacturing, helping American manufacturers enhance their capabilities.
