The WNBA has officially extended its season under the new collective bargaining agreement, pushing the latest possible end date to Nov. 21 in 2026. This represents a significant change from the previous CBA, which capped the season at Oct. 31. The expansion continues in 2028 when the season could stretch to Nov. 30 due to the Olympic schedule, marking the latest the WNBA season has ever extended.

The league will increase its maximum game count to 50 by 2027 and 52 by 2029, partly accommodating the addition of Toronto and Portland. Players will now report to teams earlier, with a required arrival date of April 15 instead of May 1. The new CBA also establishes 20% revenue sharing for players, addressing a key point of contention during negotiations between the league and players' association.

Salary structures see substantial increases under the new agreement, with minimum salaries ranging from $270,000 to $300,000 based on years of service. The regular max salary in 2026 will be $1.19 million, while first-round picks will average $386,000 in their first year—a dramatic jump from previous rookie scales. The league will grow to a record 18 teams by 2030, solidifying its commitment to expansion and improved player conditions.
