A developer has released AnsiSaver, a macOS screensaver that resurrects the golden age of BBS ANSI art. Built using libansilove for authentic CP437 rendering, the screensaver streams artwork directly from 16colo.rs, the internet's largest ANSI/ASCII art archive.

AnsiSaver supports multiple file formats including .ANS, .ICE, .ASC, .BIN, .XB, .PCB, and .ADF files, rendering them at smooth 60fps with configurable scroll speeds and render scales up to 4x for Retina displays. Users can pull art from specific 16colo.rs pack URLs or point the screensaver at local folders containing their personal ANSI collections.

The screensaver requires Apple Silicon Macs running macOS Tahoe 26.0 or later. Installation involves downloading the .saver package and potentially bypassing macOS security restrictions for unsigned apps. Configuration options include transition effects, continuous scroll mode for endless art streams, and optional filename separators between pieces.
