Rohan Sharma has launched Almanac MCP, a tool that transforms Claude Code into a proper web research agent. Frustrated with Claude Code's slow, lossy search that relies on Haiku for summarization, Sharma built this MCP to enable coding agents to access the web properly.

The MCP currently supports general web searches, Reddit searches, and webpage scraping capabilities. Users can install it with a simple command: `npx openalmanac setup`. The tool is completely free to use and connects to Almanac's central knowledge base where contributors can share useful findings.

Beyond the MCP, Almanac functions as a collaborative encyclopedia where communities can document specialized knowledge that Wikipedia doesn't cover. The platform hosts wikis on topics ranging from Founders, Inc. to STEM OPT to TikTok advertising, with 271 articles across 169 topics. Contributors can start their own wikis, creating living documents that AI assistants can reference during conversations.
