Introducing Claude Duet: Proactive AI Agent

Anthropic is opening a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app in which Claude works as a proactive agent. It monitors what needs your attention, completes tasks you assign, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before acting on your behalf. Claude Duet is designed for professionals and small business owners with more on their plates than they can track. It is available as a standalone app on iOS and Android, and on claude.ai. During the research preview, it is included in Pro and Max plans and uses the same usage limits as the rest of Claude. Access is granted through a waitlist.

At the core of Claude Duet is its judgment. Built on Claude Opus 5.5, it decides what needs your attention, what can wait, and when to check with you first. Each morning it sends a short brief on the most important items across your connected apps, then monitors those apps throughout the day and messages you only when something needs attention. Users can hand it tasks ranging from scheduling meetings to building dashboards, creating financial or sales forecasts, prototyping, and building web apps.

Safety and privacy are built in. Claude Duet follows Anthropic's framework for trustworthy agents and never directly sees passwords or sign-in tokens. Its actions are approved by an auto mode classifier, and its defenses against hidden instructions and prompt injection draw on browser-use research. The product has undergone adversarial testing, penetration testing by red teams and an external firm, and is covered by a public bug bounty program. A dedicated classifier blocks requests to share the strictest information, such as credit card numbers and government identification, while other sensitive data is shared only when explicitly instructed.

Internal testers at Anthropic are already using Claude Duet to free up time for thinking and presence. Boris Cherny, who leads the Claude Code team, reviews his to-do list with it on walks, while Chelsea Larsson, who leads model and product behavior design, hands it her task list before evenings with her kids and receives results in a nightly report.
