AI 3D Models Flood Market, Few Buyers

CGTrader found that one in six models uploaded to its marketplace are AI-generated, yet these assets account for only $1 out of $90 in revenue. The company says buyers are voting with their wallets, and the gap between surging supply and middling demand challenges the assumption that AI-made content is repricing the market.

Quality remains the top factor for buyers, even above price. Only 4 percent of buyers said AI-generated models work well, while 20 percent found them not good enough and 7 percent used them only with heavy editing. The findings come from marketplace data collected between June 2025 and May 2026 and buyer surveys.

CGTrader CEO Dalia Lašaitė said the company's AI workflow is designed to accelerate mechanical parts of 3D creation while keeping creative control with designers. She emphasized that the goal is not to increase the volume of AI-made assets but to give designers better tools.

The flood of AI uploads creates discoverability problems, but CGTrader prioritizes quality and performance signals over raw volume when ranking assets.
