SDCC is a retargettable, optimizing compiler suite supporting ANSI C89 through C23 for a wide range of 8-bit and 16-bit microprocessors. Targets include Intel MCS51 (8051, 8052), Maxim DS80C390, Freescale HC08 and S08, Zilog Z80, Rabbit, Padauk, STM8, MOS 6502, WDC 65C02, and PIC devices. Work is ongoing to support Rabbit 5000, 6000, and f8l targets.

The project originated from Sandeep Dutta and is now maintained by a community of developers on SourceForge. SDCC 4.6.0 introduces new C2y operators, C23 compound literals, conditional operators with omitted operands, experimental f8l port support, and signed bit-precise integer types. The release provides binaries for GNU/Linux amd64, Windows x86 and amd64, and macOS amd64, alongside updated sources and documentation.
