Tesla's new Cybercab is available for rides today. But the rollout faces an immediate regulatory challenge — the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened a federal investigation into Tesla's self-certification process and data for the vehicle, almost immediately after the streets.

Volkswagen has confirmed a major restructuring plan that will eliminate 50,000 jobs as part of a survival plan with layoffs, potential factory closures, and brand shutdowns all on the table.
