Keychron has launched the K8 HE All-Wood Special Edition gaming keyboard, featuring a walnut wood bottom case that replaces the standard plastic. The keyboard retains the same internal technology as previous K8 HE versions, including an aluminium plate, Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula switches, and a tray-mount design, but the wood case significantly alters the sound profile. A brown metal side panel adds to a steampunk aesthetic.

Priced at $199.99, the K8 HE All-Wood is available exclusively from Keychron. It includes double-shot PBT keycaps in Keychron's OSA profile, which match the height and sculpt of OEM keycaps but feature a different top design. The keyboard offers north-facing per-key RGB backlighting, customizable via Keychron's Launcher software, but the keycaps are not shine-through.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2, 2.4 GHz wireless with up to 1 kHz polling, and USB Type-C wired. It runs QMK open-source firmware, with a 3.4 ms end-to-end keypress latency as cited from Rtings testing. A 4,000 mAh battery provides around 110 hours of use with the backlight off.

The TKL layout suits gaming and office use, though the high front height of 27.34 mm may cause fatigue without a wrist rest. Magnetic switches enable analogue input, customizable actuation points, and features like SOCD, Rapid Trigger, and gamepad emulation. However, the Gateron switches use an outdated S-Pole sensor orientation, making them incompatible with standard magnetic switches from Wooting, TTC, and Grava Star.
