Apple has released its 2026 operating system updates: iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27. The flagship feature is Siri AI, a large language model-based overhaul of the voice and text assistant, available across all platforms except tvOS.

The new Siri responds to natural language requests, explains screen content, searches past personal context like old emails and texts, and interacts with apps when developers add support. Other AI features include generating Shortcut automations or Safari extensions from a prompt and additional photo editing options. A dedicated Siri app now exists, similar to ChatGPT or Claude.

Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features are driven by Apple-developed models labeled AFM 3. On-device, there's AFM 3 Core with 3 billion parameters, and AFM 3 Core Advanced, a 20-billion-parameter model using sparse architecture. Cloud models include AFM 3 Cloud, ADM 3 Cloud (Image), and AFM3 Cloud Pro.

Beyond AI, iOS and macOS users get a slider to adjust Liquid Glass transparency. On macOS, Apple made numerous design tweaks addressing user feedback since Liquid Glass was introduced. Nothing radically new, but a much-needed polish pass.
