Apple has released public versions of iOS 27, macOS 27 (aka macOS Golden Gate), iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27. The major new feature is Siri AI, the long-delayed revamp of Apple's virtual assistant. Siri AI pulls personal info from apps and uses on-screen content for context. There's a new Siri app, and usage limits may apply. Initially, Siri AI is only available on supported devices set to English. French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish support arrives next month. Siri AI and related features won't be available in the European Union at launch, and it's on hold in China due to regulatory requirements.

Beyond Siri AI, Apple tweaks the Liquid Glass design for more customization and readability. The new OSes bring performance improvements, including app launches up to 30 percent faster. Other iOS 27 updates include new AI photo editing, custom EQ on AirPods, a bill-splitting feature in the US, expanded parental controls, and using the same phone number across two iPhones.

You might not install immediately due to server load. Check Settings > General > Software Update. iOS 27 runs on iPhone 11 series and newer, plus second- or third-gen iPhone SE. Siri AI requires Apple Intelligence: iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 or later; iPad mini (A17 Pro), MacBook Neo (A18 Pro), iPad/Mac with M1 or later, Apple Vision Pro, Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Ultra 2 or later, and Apple Watch SE 3. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max arrive this week, and the foldable iPhone Duo follows next month. Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5 launch September 18. New Mac mini and Mac Studio arrive next week.
