Samsung took to social media today to mock the iPhone Duo while Apple announced the device. In a series of sarcastic posts that did not explicitly mention Apple or the iPhone Duo, Samsung made comments like "Let us know when you're done reheating our leftovers" and "Was it exciting? No. Did it happen? Yes." Samsung used an #ItsTimeToSwitch hashtag in some of its posts.

Launching on Friday, October 23, the iPhone Duo will compete with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 and other foldable devices already on the market. Apple will begin accepting pre-orders for the iPhone Duo on Friday, October 16, with U.S. pricing starting at $1,999 for a model with 256GB of storage, compared to $1,899 for the Galaxy Z Fold8.

In related news, Apple is expected to debut new iPhone 18 Pro models at its "Surprise and Shine" event on Wednesday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. According to research firm TrendForce, the iPhone 18 Pro's starting price may increase from $1,099 for the iPhone 17 Pro, reflecting higher component costs.

Additionally, the foldable iPhone Ultra, likely to be unveiled at the same event, is rumored to support MagSafe charging, based on leaked cases and dummy models. While early dummy units lacked the MagSafe ring, recent leaks suggest the final design will include it, aligning with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman report.
