After years of rumors, Apple has announced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable phone, at the "surprise and shine" event. The device features a smaller exterior display that opens to a larger internal screen, enabling better multitasking and media consumption. The iPhone Duo is about the size of a passport when closed and opens to the largest iPhone display ever, with a hinge made of over 100 components and a titanium frame for strength and weight reduction.

The outer display is 5.4 inches, while the interior panel is 7.6 inches, supporting split-view multitasking with multiple apps or instances. The Apple Pencil works on both displays, and the exterior screen can enter standby mode to show a clock. Touch ID is integrated into the side button, and unlocking via Apple Watch is also supported.

Inside, the iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip and C2 modem, with two batteries providing up to 31 hours of video on the inner display and 44 hours on the outer. A 48-megapixel Dual Fusion camera system includes main and ultra-wide lenses, with 4K/120 video and 4K Dolby Vision HDR. The front has a 12MP Center Stage camera and a 1080p FaceTime camera under the interior display.

The iPhone Duo comes in Night Sky and Star White, starting at $1,999 for 256GB, with preorders from October 16 and availability in 70 countries on October 23.
