A display research group with a middling rumor history claims Apple plans to introduce a new OLED MacBook model in 2029 to bridge the gap between MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. The report, from Omdia without citing sources, says Apple revised its roadmap to include this device. It would feature a 13.8-inch single-layer OLED screen with an under-panel camera, potentially eliminating the notch, and may include a touch sensor—suggesting a touchscreen MacBook.

This could split the lineup: touchscreen models (new MacBook and MacBook Pro) versus non-touch (MacBook Air and MacBook Neo). The new model would sit above the Air and Neo but below the Pro, which may use a two-stack OLED for better quality and longevity. Apple is also reportedly developing an iMac for ~2030 with a five-stack OLED screen, possibly surpassing this new MacBook’s display.

The MacBook Air remains Apple’s most popular laptop. With the timeline still years away, Apple has time to finalize decisions.
