Samsung's recent Galaxy Unpacked event in London introduced its latest foldable phones and smartwatches, but several key announcements may have been overlooked. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 introduces a new, wider form factor, deviating from the traditional tall and narrow design, making it more tablet-like for multitasking. This new design also features an "almost" crease-free inner display thanks to Titanium Flex technology and an anti-reflective coating.

Another significant update is the adoption of silicon-carbon battery tech across the new foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, offering increased capacity and faster charging. The software also saw enhancements with One UI 9, based on Android 17, introducing features like Fan Cam for automatic subject tracking in videos and unlocking more functionality for the Galaxy Z Flip 8's cover display.

Beyond phones, Samsung provided more details on its upcoming smart glasses, the Galaxy Glasses. These will run Android XR with Gemini, be powered by Qualcomm's AR1 Gen 1 chip, and focus on voice and camera interaction. While the first generation won't have a display, they will be controllable via hand gestures when paired with a Wear OS smartwatch, with a launch expected later this year.
