The modern recreation of the iconic Neo Geo console, the AES+, has been delayed until September 16, 2027, according to manufacturer Plaion. Originally slated for a November launch, the delay is attributed to the global AI-induced memory chip shortage, which has created unprecedented demand and supply constraints. Plaion stated that the decision was made to secure components needed to meet pre-order demand and support a substantially larger worldwide release.

Despite the setback, the price remains unchanged. The standard black edition costs $250, while the limited-edition all-white 35th anniversary bundle costs $350 and includes a Metal Slug cartridge and memory card. Modernized game carts are still priced at $90, which some may find steep.

Existing pre-orders are not impacted by the delay, and those customers will retain priority. Early orders also come with a free AES+ gamepad, and some bundles include a 30 percent voucher for game carts. This is not Plaion's first retro console project, as it previously worked on a Commodore 64 remake and a limited-edition yellow Atari 2600.
