After months of beta testing, Apple released Siri AI to the public today as part of iOS 27 and its other OS updates. During setup, users see a new prompt asking whether they'd like to opt in to improve Siri and Apple Intelligence.

Previously, users were asked whether they wanted to help improve Siri and Dictation, sharing audio and transcripts with Apple. Starting today, enabling Siri AI shows a setup screen asking to opt in to "improve Siri and Apple Intelligence," with options: "Share Audio and Text" or "Not Now."

Apple says the data helps improve foundation models and Siri by collecting text and audio interactions with Siri, Dictation, and Translate. The type of data collected isn't changing—what's changing is that Apple will now use it to train and refine its Foundation Models, as well as Siri and Dictation. Even those who previously opted in will be asked again.

Apple says Siri audio data and transcripts are tied to a random device-generated identifier that rotates multiple times per hour, not an Apple Account or email. Data isn't used for marketing profiles or sold. Users can change preferences in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence.
