Vodafone Three is set to launch a UK TV service for the first time, marking the country's largest mobile operator's expansion beyond mobile and broadband. The FTSE 100 company plans to cross-sell the offering to existing customers, which will include streaming services such as Netflix and HBO Max. This move is part of an effort to more than double its broadband business to over 4.3 million customers by 2034.

Vodafone Three chief executive Max Taylor stated the service is needed to sell to the fixed broadband base and the large mobile customer base, who have been requesting TV options. The service will launch next month, replicating the approach of domestic rivals Sky, BT, and Virgin Media O2. However, unlike Sky, Vodafone will not produce its own content, instead entering partnerships with streaming groups.

The industry has had mixed success pushing into TV; BT launched BT Sport in 2013 but has since backed away due to high costs, selling half the business to Warner Bros Discovery in 2022. According to Enders Analysis, BT's annual TV customer growth is about 4 per cent, while Virgin Media O2's TV customer base declines by roughly 4 per cent a year. Sky does not publish TV customer figures.

Separately, Vodafone Three announced plans to launch a new "Super Mobile" premium service with faster download speeds. The company is also embroiled in a spat with Reform UK over free SIM cards provided to migrant charity Care4Calais, though executives are set to attend Reform UK's party conference.
