Arthur Fery missed out on his first ATP Tour title, losing 6-3 6-2 to Peru's Ignacio Buse in the Winston-Salem Open final. The 24-year‑old Briton, who reached the Wimbledon semi‑finals in July, became the first British finalist at the ATP 250 event and will climb to world No.33, overtaking Cameron Norrie as the UK's top player. Buse, 22, secured his second career title and became the youngest Winston‑Salem champion, having previously beaten Tommy Paul in Hamburg.

After a rapid run to the final, Fery will head to the US Open, facing 13th seed Lorenzo Musetti in his debut at Flushing Meadows. Nine British players are set to appear in the US Open main draws, including Norrie, Jan Choinski, qualifiers Toby Samuel and Harry Wendelken, and lucky loser Jacob Fearnley, while Katie Boulter, Fran Jones and Harriet Dart compete in the women's field.
