Barcelona have submitted their opening offer for Newcastle United and England forward Anthony Gordon, according to ESPN sources. The 25-year-old winger impressed during Newcastle's Champions League campaign, netting 10 goals across 12 appearances as the Magpies reached the round of 16. Gordon also attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Liverpool, but the Catalan giants are now front-runners for his signature.

The potential deal could reach €80 million ($93m), with Barcelona keen to finalize the transfer before the World Cup. This pursuit comes after Barça lost significant time chasing Nico Williams in previous summers, only to see him remain at Athletic Club. Gordon's agent, Adam Dugdale, met with sporting director Deco earlier in May, signaling the club's long-standing interest in the player.

Marcus Rashford's future at Barcelona becomes complicated if Gordon arrives, as both players prefer operating on the left wing. Rashford contributed 14 goals and 14 assists during his loan spell from Manchester United, with the Spanish club holding an option to buy for €30m ($35m). However, United reportedly refuse to negotiate the pre-agreed fee, making Rashford's permanent stay unlikely.
