Toshiba Electronics Asia (Singapore) announces the new Canvio Ready 2.5-inch portable external HDD. The redesigned enclosure features grip-enhancing ribbed detailing, and the top cover uses 65% recycled material. It retains plug-and-play operation and dependable portable storage.

Capacities reach 4 TB, offering ample space for everyday digital life—backing up family photos, carrying files or storing media. Users connect the drive and start saving, with no software installation required. The drive includes a USB Type-A to Micro-B cable.

USB 3.2 Gen 1 delivers up to 5 Gbit/s while maintaining backwards compatibility with USB 2.0. USB-powered operation eliminates an external power supply, and the HDD is pre-formatted for Microsoft Windows; Mac systems are supported after reformatting. Toshiba's ramp load design protects the drive mechanism during transport, and integrated shock sensors guard against excessive shock. Hiroaki Yasui, General Manager of Toshiba's Sales & Marketing Division, said the new Canvio Ready reflects continuous product refinement, preserving performance, reliability and convenience.

The redesigned enclosure provides a more confident grip, while recycled material gives customers a more environmentally conscious purchasing choice. The new Canvio Ready with 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB capacities will be available starting Q4'2026.
